Spiralling Around : Liz Thornton

Saturday 13th November £35.00 (*/**/***)
10am – 4pm (1 hour lunch break)
Booking deadline: 6th November
Back by popular demand, Liz is quite happy for total beginners to do this course but *** students will learn a lot as well!
The aim of the course is to teach students how to stitch beads together using two spiralling techniques.
Spirals are particularly suitable for making necklaces and bracelets, but can also be used to make decorative straps for evening bags.
Also, a short length of a spiral can be used as a beaded bead.
Course outline: The focus of this workshop will be on
1. Herringbone Spirals, starting with the basic stitch and then exploring ways of exaggerating the spiral,
and of varying bead selection for pattern and texture.
2. Dutch Spirals, including Double Dutch. This stitch is usually described as a ‘one way’ stitch -
Liz will show that this does not have to be the case and also how to join a length end to end seamlessly.
By the end of the course it will be the individual student’s choice whether to produce small samples of every technique on offer
or to concentrate on one or two techniques only and use them to complete, for example, a bracelet length.
