Peyote leaf with Chain **/***

10th April 2010 £35.00

10am – 4pm (1 hour lunch break)

Guest tutor: Sue Stallard

A skilled embroiderer, Sue Stallard now works with computers and graphic design (instruction books to die for!) and her bold use of colour gives her work a unique look.

We welcome Sue back to Charisma Beads with a stunning leaf design pendant. Worked in Peyote stitch in two different sized beads, including the new size 10/00 Delica, a natural shape can be created. The leaf can be put onto a simple chain or built into a major piece of beading. Familiarity with working with needle and thread is required because this piece is tension based.

Saraguro Beading */**

20th March 2010 £35.00

10am – 4pm (1 hour lunch break)

Guest tutor: Claire Crouchley

Booking deadline: 13th March 2010

A biochemist by trade, Claire now lives and works in Galway on the west coast of Ireland, and in the evenings and weekends (and whenever she can steal a spare moment) reveals her secret identity as a bead artist.

She is a member of the Beadworkers Guild, and regularly enters their yearly challenge. She has written 'The Beader's Bible', published by Search Press.

Claire taught this workshop at the Guild event in Daventry this year and I heard so many enthusiastic reports I invited her to come and repeat it here at Charisma.

These pieces are based on Saraguro beading techniques and inspired by the look of crochet doilies, You will learn how to create two decorative pieces in seed and bugle beads. Each design can be expanded or reduced in size. This workshop is suitable for intermediate and experienced beaders, and uses a form of netted brick stitch. Previous knowledge of brick stitch is helpful, but not essential.
