Charisma extends a welcome return to Melanie De Miguel who is bringing her brand new workshop 'Reliquary' to our April Open Day. This project is is stunning. A deceptively fragile series of chains lead the eye down past 2 elaborate, crystal beaded beads to the focal pendant of a hollow reliquary which is a sealed container with a little chamber, destined to hold your own tiny, secret treasures or messages. Its 4 sides comprise large, rectangular crystals, like colourful windows, with a crystal, domed top and bottom, decorated entirely with silver, gold and pearls.set with sparkling Swarovski stones.
Students will make the two types of crystal element needed for Reliquary, and learn how to connect them in different ways to form the components; they will also make the chain, suspensions and fringes. Throughout the workshop there will be plenty of discussion on the potential use and adaptation of these elements in other designs.
Skill level: Intermediate to Advanced, with some working knowledge of Hubble Stitch techniques and Peyote stitch. Please note this is a longer workshop than usual running from 9am to 5pm.
